CHI works with a trusted overseas partner agency in Voronezh, Russia. This is where most of our placements are located. Voronezh has a population of one million inhabitants and is about 300 miles from Moscow. There are many students attending university in the area, so there are a lot of fun events happening around town. Our partners will welcome you to their office to meet some of their staff and to get you acquainted with the area. Their agency is connected to an English language academy where you may be given the opportunity to teach in a classroom setting in addition to your World Explorers home tutor position. This is really exciting for those who are studying education and need some experience to add to their resume.

Please note that some of our host families also live in smaller towns throughout Russia. We will do our best to satisfy your needs when searching for the best match. We ask that you please be flexible with your exact location. It really depends on which families we have available during the time you are looking to travel. Placements may be a bit outside of major city centers like Moscow or St. Petersburg.

If you need a specific location, you may wish to consider our Guaranteed Placement Location option.

This option makes possible to choose the specific city you will be placed in. You can choose any location with a population over 500,000 within the biggest country in the world, and you will be placed in your city of choice or its suburbs. Please be patient since this option can take up to two additional weeks on arranging family in the specific location. There is an additional charge of $150 for this service.

Cost Calculator

We understand that keeping the World Explorers cost down is as important as the life-changing experience you will enjoy. Hence, we prepared a cost calculator which shows the cost of the program (excluding airfare) compared to the cost of a standard vacation. The prices are calculated according to the destination chosen, the arrival and departure dates, and the length of your stay.

The length of your stay is an especially important factor: the longer you stay abroad, the cheaper the cost per day becomes.

CHI is a non-profit organization, but we still have fixed costs that are necessary for running the program. Our overseas partners are actually for-profit, and we must take that into consideration as well. Our partners do the work to find and screen excellent host families that match your interests and needs!
