Ecuador uses US Dollars
Ecuador is an exciting tourist destination with its magnificent Andean mountains lined with 30 volcanoes, Amazon rainforest, colonial cities, colorful indigenous markets, Incan heritage, and an amazing coastline. Don’t forget the Galapagos Islands, far out in the Pacific!
CHI works with trusted partners in Quito, Ecuador to screen and interview potential families to host our World Explorers. Quito was the first city to ever be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded in 1535, Quito sits on a high plateau in the Andes of South America. Many of the original structures here date back more than 500 years and remain largely intact, making Quito quite charming.
You will have a local coordinator to assist you during your visit to Ecuador. Placements are in or around the capital and in safe neighborhoods. It is easy to travel to the mountains, beaches and rainforest from Quito. Our partners can also help you sign up for Spanish classes if you are looking to learn Spanish in Ecuador.
We understand that keeping the World Explorers cost down is as important as the life-changing experience you will enjoy. Hence, we prepared a cost calculator which shows the cost of the program (excluding airfare) compared to the cost of a standard vacation. The prices are calculated according to the destination chosen, the arrival and departure dates, and the length of your stay. The length of your stay is an especially important factor: the longer you stay abroad, the cheaper the cost per day becomes.
CHI is a non-profit organization, but we still have fixed costs that are necessary for running the program. Our overseas partners are actually for-profit, and we must take that into consideration as well. Our partners do the work to find and screen excellent host families that match your interests and needs!
