Become a World Explorer
Chile offers one of the most varied landscapes in the world. You can visit icy blue glaciers, hot springs, volcanoes, rainforests, dry deserts, grassy plains, and gorgeous beaches - Chile really has it all!
Situated south of Peru and west of Bolivia and Argentina, Chile fills a nearly 3,000 mile strip between the Andes and the Pacific. One-third of Chile is covered by the towering ranges of the Andes. In the north is the driest place on Earth, the Atacama Desert, and the center is a thickly populated valley with most of Chile's arable land. At the southern tip of Chile's mainland is Punta Arenas, the southernmost city in the world, and beyond that lies the Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego, an island divided between Chile and Argentina. Cape Horn marks the southernmost tip of Chile.
CHI works with its trusted partner agency in the bustling capital city of Santiago. They also have offices in Viña del Mar, a city on central Chile’s Pacific coast. Its long stretches of white sandy beaches are a major attraction for national and international tourists. Known as The Garden City, Viña del Mar is located in the Valparaíso Region. You can live with a local host family while doing a volunteer program in order to learn the Chilean way of life.
If you like social projects and would like to get involved, volunteering in Chile is a great opportunity. Regardless of your experience, you can contribute to international understanding and learn Spanish in Chile. Our partner collaborates with social institutions and non-profit organizations offering a range of programs throughout Chile, such as:
WE calculated the price for two scenarios. The first scenario considers your choices above. The second scenario is the scenario that offers the best value. We also compared our prices with two other options. A hostel-stay with 3 meals per day and a hotel-stay with 3 meals per day. For the hotel-stay, we considered 1-2 star hotels because we learned from past World Explorers that most of them are traveling on a budget. However, a home-stay (staying with a host family) is substantially better than a 2-star hotel-stay when all amenities, comfort, and support are considered. Aside from that, you will be staying with people who care about you, who will be sharing their culture with you, and who will embrace you as part of their family. These, as part of your life-changing experience, are priceless!
You will be traveling abroad on a tourist visa; hence, in most countries, you can only stay up to 90 days. We understand you might want to stay longer and we designed the World Explorers program to meet your desire. Instead of staying over 90 days in a country, we allow you, the World Explorer, to participate on a second adventure on a different country. And that is not all. You can actually participate as many times as you would like (some exclusions apply). Please contact a World Explorers customer care specialist for more information.
