WHAT'S NEXT?: We offer academic high school programs in many countries. You decide which country best suits your
interests and how long your stay will be.
- Complete this preliminary application and send it to our office with a $45 non-refundable application fee: CHI,
7765 Healdsburg Avenue, Suite 2, Sebastopol, CA 95472.
- On receipt we will reserve space in your chosen country and a CHI Representative will contact you to arrange an
interview with you and your family. This interview gives you the opportunity to learn more about your program.
- We will mail a full application booklet to you. Please complete it and return it to us as soon as possible since
space is sometimes limited. On receipt in our office, your full application will be reviewed, forwarded to your
hosting country and shortly you will receive notice of acceptance or other enrollment status. The process of matching
you with a host family and school will then begin.
Note: If you change your mind, deciding not to go, please let us know so your reserved space will be available for
someone else.
AFTER ACCEPTANCE: We want to keep you informed. Your Outbound Rep will phone to see how you are doing and to
answer your questions. Periodically we'll send you information designed to help you prepare for your experience,
providing ideas to help make your exchange experience successful. You will be notified as soon as a host family and
school are chosen and final flight arrangements are made. Then, you and your family will have a pre-trip
orientation.
FINALLY: We look forward to receiving your preliminary application as the first step to get you on your way.
Thank you for choosing CHI.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
Do I have to speak a foreign language?
No, there are hosting countries with no language requirement.
May I go on this academic program even if I have already graduated from high school?
You may go during your final semester of high school. There are other program choices for high school graduates.
Perhaps a Career Exploration or Immersion program will be just perfect for you.
When will I know who will be my host family?
You will receive information about your host family as soon as the "match" is made. Do not expect it earlier
than 8 weeks before departure. It may come sooner but often does not. It is better to be prepared for this waiting
period.
This educational experience will assist you with future plans. College and University officials are favorably
impressed by cultural exposure and advanced language skills. Students who participate in an exchange are valued for
initiative and their ability to adapt. Your sense of adventure, courage and the intellectual achievements gained will
benefit you for a lifetime.
With CHI, you are in excellent hands. All administrative staff have hosted foreign students themselves, traveled
extensively, and worked with young people as counselors and coordinators. Extreme care is taken to place you in a good
high school, a wonderful family, and a safe community. Academic Counselors abroad will provide you with assistance and
advice to support you in a successful exchange experience. |
