Job Opportunities

Earn Supplemental Income working with high school age students from around the world! Responsibilities include finding loving host families, counseling the students while they are here in the U.S. and working closely with the local high school to ensure a good experience for all. Academic Coordinator positions are available in the West Seattle, Renton, Federal Way to Tacoma, Olympia, Centralia, Grays Harbor and Kelso areas. ACADEMIC YEAR PROGRAM

By volunteering to open your home and heart to the world's young people, you are donating to them an uncommon gift: an offer of friendship, a willingness to share yourself and your way of life, and a genuine interest in learning about other cultures and customs. CHI host families are special people of extraordinary goodwill and generosity of spirit. Most important of all, they are willing to make a difference in their own family, their community, their country and ultimately the world. GROUP HOMESTAY PROGRAM


Host families participating in this program have the unique opportunity of experiencing what it's like to have a foreign student as a member of their family for a short period of time (programs vary from 4 days on up to 6 weeks.) If you are interested in becoming a host family for one of these students, contact Area Administrator Jennie Fouts at chijennie@chinet.org.

Summer 2008 - Join us this summer as a host family for a foreign exchange student coming to Washington State:

Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater - June 23 to July 18, 2008: We will welcome Chinese students from the central Chinese city of Chongqing. The study center will be in downtown Olympia. They will enjoy walks to the Farmer's Market and the State Capitol. Join us to learn about their culture and language.

Gig Harbor - July 12 to August 8, 2008: Chinese students from central China (Chongqing) are coming to town. This is your chance to bring an exciting new person into your home this summer. Your teens can attend classes with the students and learn a new culture as the students learn about the USA.

Port Orchard - July 12 to August 8, 2008: Chinese students from central China (Chongqing) will be arriving in Port Orchard, Washington. This can be your family's summer adventure. Your teens can attend classes with the students and learn a new culture as the students learn about the USA.

Port Orchard - July 23 to August 19, 2008: Japanese students from Okinawa will be touring the city, living with host families and learning about our culture. Join us for a fun few weeks…you too can learn about the Japanese culture and travel to Japan without leaving your home.

Gig Harbor - July 21 to August 13, 2008: Host families from the area will host Chinese foreign exchange students from Chongqing. We have fun activities planned that include trips to Hurricane Ridge, downtown Seattle and touring the State Capitol in Olympia.

Shelton, Allyn, Belfair - July 16 to August 1, 2008: Host families from these areas will host Chinese foreign exchange students from Beijing. They will improve their English skills and also enjoy trips to Mt. Rainier, Seattle and Olympia.

Puyallup/Spanaway/Parkland - July 21 to August 13, 2008: Host families from the area will host Chinese foreign exchange students from Chongqing. We have fun activities planned that include trips to Hurricane Ridge, downtown Seattle and touring the State Capitol in Olympia.

Steilacoom - July 29 to August 12, 2008: Please join Japanese students from Gotsu High School for 16 days of fun in the sun. The students will attend class five days a week and you are welcome to join us on trips to Seattle and to a Mariner's Game.

2009 Winter and Spring Groups - Hosting Opportunities in Washington State:

Hoquiam/Aberdeen - March 1 to March 31, 2009: High school students from Okinawa, Japan will join American students for classes two days a week. One day each week they will explore WA and OR: Seattle, Mt. St. Helens, Astoria and the beaches. By hosting a foreign exchange student you will help them improve their English skills and learn about our American custom and culture. Learning about the Japanese culture and Okinawan way of life with be an adventure for your family. Please join us.

Tacoma/Puyallup/Spanaway/Parkland - January 28 to February 12, 2009: These areas will host Chinese students from Beijing. You and your family will learn about China while hosting and helping these high school age students improve their English skills. Please join us by hosting a foreign exchange student.

Job Opportunities

Teacher Coordinators needed in Port Orchard, Gig Harbor, Tacoma and Puyallup. Work with groups of international students for 3-4 weeks in the summer teaching conversational English, and taking fun field trips. Earn income now arranging homes for the students.
