ACADEMIC YEAR PROGRAM

Pennsylvania is a very interesting and beautiful state. It is well known for its beautiful mountains, colorful fall foliage and the Amish people. In the fall there is a wide array of Mother Nature's beauty in the many colors of trees varying from yellows, golds, oranges and reds!
This is a very exciting region by being able to share the fun of snow with students who have never experienced it. And, a great opportunity for students that particularly enjoy skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sledding and other snow fun to have it in their back yard.
Pennsylvania borders New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and Ohio. This gives most students the opportunity to see and experience New York City, Niagara Falls, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC (our nation's capitol).
This year there are a total of 55 students in our region representing Belgium, Brazil, Columbia, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Mongolia, Slovakia, Spain, and Thailand.

Become a Host Family

By volunteering to open your home and heart to the world's young people, you are donating to them an uncommon gift: an offer of friendship, a willingness to share yourself and your way of life, and a genuine interest in learning about other cultures and customs. CHI host families are special people of extraordinary goodwill and generosity of spirit. Most important of all, they are willing to make a difference in their own family, their community, their country and ultimately the world.
We support our families and students with arrival orientations, welcome parties, support and counseling and numerous activities throughout the 10 month homestay.
Our host families enjoy sharing their culture, lifestyle, home and love with an international student so much that they continue to host year after year. Hosting a student from another country is a unique and rare opportunity to help build bridges around the world for peace and understanding. Hosting is as rewarding for the host family as it is for the student, building memories and relationships that will last a lifetime.
If you are interested in more information about hosting please contact Deb Hurley at chideb@chinet.org or call at 1-888-288-4328.
