Nicknamed the Cornhusker State and has two national parks and 8 state parks. See the Henry Dorrly Zoo in Omaha and go to Lake McConaughy, Nebraska's largest lake. A huge event is Nebraskaland Days. This is a week long celebration with parades, old fashion wild west shows and a rodeo – each June in Omaha. The University of Nebraska has a very successful football team, the Huskers. Special attractions are the Ashfall State Historical Park near Royal, Chimney Rock National Historical Park near Baynard, American Indian dancing and the historic Meriwether Lewis dredge near Brownville.
ACADEMIC YEAR PROGRAM
By volunteering to open your home and heart to the world's young people, you are donating to them an uncommon gift: an offer of friendship, a willingness to share yourself and your way of life, and a genuine interest in learning about other cultures and customs. CHI host families are special people of extraordinary goodwill and generosity of spirit. Most important of all, they are willing to make a difference in their own family, their community, their country and ultimately the world. For more information about hosting an international student contact Area Adminstator Candis Bell at chicandis@chinet.org.
