Our school has an academic awards program for all the students that are have a 3.7 or above GPA. It goes in 4 stages. 1 semester a certificate, 3 - a letter, 5 - a pin to put on the letter, and 7 a plaque. For many years, I have been trying to get them to acknowlege the exchange students for this honor. After there was a change in advisors and principal, they finally included the exchange students. This year the CHI students were able to receive the certificate. Meg and Sally received a 3.7 GPA or better. There are other exchange students in the school, but none of them qualified. I thought that this spoke very well as to the quality of students we receive through CHI. If they had been awarded in the past, our students would have been there each year. It is good to know that we have exceptional students.

GROUP HOMESTAY PROGRAM

By volunteering to open your home and heart to the world's young people, you are donating to them an uncommon gift: an offer of friendship, a willingness to share yourself and your way of life, and a genuine interest in learning about other cultures and customs. CHI host families are special people of extraordinary goodwill and generosity of spirit. Most important of all, they are willing to make a difference in their own family, their community, their country and ultimately the world.

Host families participating in this program have the unique opportunity of experiencing what it's like to have a foreign student as a member of their family for a short period of time (programs vary from 4 days on up to 6 weeks.) If you are interested in becoming a host family for one of these students, contact Area Administrator Sue Thomas at chisuet@chinet.org.
