ACADEMIC YEAR PROGRAM

By volunteering to open your home and heart to our World's young people, you are donating to them an uncommon gift; an offer of friendship, a willingness to share yourself, community and our way of life, along with a genuine interest in learning about other cultures and customs. CHI host families are special people of extraordinary goodwill and generosity of spirit. Most important of all, they are willing to make a difference in their own family, their community, their country and ultimately the World. Be a part of the magic!!

Area high schools participating in the 2007/2008 Academic Year Program are:

Pablo Nunez, from Columbia, playing football for the Nipomo Titans at Nipomo High School in Nipomo, CA.

GROUP HOMESTAY PROGRAM

Host families participating in this program have the unique opportunity of experiencing what it's like to have a foreign student as a member of their family for a short period of time (programs vary from 4 days to 6 weeks). Both the student and the host family learn about each other's cultures. Often time life long frindships are established. If you are interested in becoming a host family for one of these students, contact Area Administrator, Dorothy Whitefield at chidorothy@chinet.org.

The CHI Homestay Program generally runs from 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Students participate in English classes in the mornings and are taken on educational trips in the afternoon. While CHI invites all host families to participate with the students in the daily activities, the program has also been designed to support the busy family who cannot accompany the students during the day.
