California's Central Valley North Area Map

Greetings from Central Valley North, encompassing the area of Lodi, California in the south to the Oregon border in the north, and Fairfield/Vacaville, California in the west to Nevada in the East. Although our field office is located near the state capital of California (Sacramento), we also oversee programs as far away as Reno, Nevada. Dedicated to the philosophy of spreading world peace through understanding, we have over 700 host families yearly who embrace this message by hosting in our many programs.

Central Valley North, in its GROUP HOMESTAY PROGRAM, has been welcoming foreign students from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Russia, and Italy for over 18 years.

Throughout the school year, the SISTER SCHOOL PROGRAM unites students from both our area's schools and overseas schools. Page 1, 2.

During our Group Homestay and Academic Year Programs, we ask that our students volunteer for COMMUNITY SERVICE projects.

The AU PAIR program, new to our region, unites foreign students with Sacramento area host families.

GROUP HOMESTAY PROGRAM

Host families from 20 different communities scattered throughout the Sacramento area have been welcoming students for the past 17 years. Our families are the foundation of the CHI program.

Host families participating in this program have the unique opportunity of experiencing what it's like to have a foreign student as a member of their family for a short period of time (programs vary from 4 days on up to 6 weeks.) If you are interested in becoming a host family for one of these students, contact Area Administrator Cathy Johnson at chicathy@chinet.org.
